Tweed Geads roll on to GC finals

TWEED Heads has continued its march towards the semi finals of the Gold Coast Soccer first division with a 5-1 victory over Kingscliff at Kingscliff yesterday.

In a family day hosted by the Tweed Coast club, Tweed “did what we had to do” according to coach Roger Hoy.

“Kingscliff played with plenty of spirit in what was a very enjoyable afternoon and the match gave us some opportunities to try some things in the run to the finals.

“It was important for us to continue to keep winning to stay in the top four.”

For Tweed, Aaron Maingay scored a hat-trick of goals with Richard Reid and debutant starter Chris Porter also scoring.

On the Gold Coast, Murwillumbah produced one of their better performances of the season to go down fighting against United Eagles 4-3.

Coach Mick McCarthy said his side played the better football but luck didn't go their way.
