Tweed homes mostly escape power outs gripping region

WHILE 14,000 people are without power in the North Coast, the Tweed has escaped relatively unscathed.

Essential Energy spokeswoman Rachel Hussell said the weather conditions were not affecting electricity supply to many Tweed customers.

"There are a handful of customers in Kingscliff and three or four at Tumbulgum," Ms Hussell said.

"Because of the wind it is too dangerous to have crews out there restoring power right now."

Ms Hussell said most customers without power would have no power overnight.

Readers have also rang in to advise some Burringbar homes are without power.
