Tweed now more popular than Southern Gold Coast
IN what has been described as the most property activity on the Tweed since 2008, there are 11 major residential developments currently selling and another two waiting approval.
Of the 11, three each are in Casuarina and Pottsville with the rest in Murwillumbah, Terranora, Cobaki and Kingscliff, a new report by Prodap Property Market Research shows.
The major developments awaiting approval are at Joshua St, Murwillumbah and Kingscliff.
June 2013 Quarter Prodap Report author Bill Morris said it was the most residential development activity in the Tweed in five years and was an indicator that the area was now more popular among buyers than the southern Gold Coast.
"What it's saying is that people see the Northern Rivers area as being comparable to the Gold Coast if not better, especially the southern Gold Coast," Mr Morris said.
"The southern part of the Gold Coast has very little (residential development) activity.
"There's going to be a resurgence of residential land and housing development in the Northern Rivers particularly around Kingscliff.
"It has a lot of the attributes that the Gold Coast used to have like a quiet lifestyle, low traffic and nice beaches."
