Tweed players invited for trials

FIVE Tweed footballers were named on Sunday to trial for a spot in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League representative side.

Clinton Toopi and Dean Widders from the Cudgen Hornets, and Lyndon Murphy, Luke Covell and Sam Panting from the Murwillumbah Mustangs have been named in a list of 30 players to trial at Bilambil Senior Rugby League ground on May 1.

After the trial game the selectors will whittle the team down to the final 17 to make up the NRRRL team to compete in the CRL Country Championships at Newcastle on June 16.

Respected coach Jamie McCormack will take the representative side to this year's competition and has high hopes from the player list this year.
