Tweed police investigate attempted child abduction

TWEED Police have confirmed they're looking into what may have been an attempted child abduction in Murwillumbah on Sunday afternoon.

A Murwillumbah woman posted a Facebook status about her son's experience about 5.30pm November 24, which was then shared by over 640 people.

"My son was nearly abducted 10 mins ago," the woman posted.

"A black motorbike, a man with a black jacket and black helmet and a woman with a black jacket and a red helmet and blond hair, they physically picked him up and carried him to their bike, but at that moment a police car drove past and they let him go and did the bolt.

"If you see anyone like this please call the police. I nearly lost my son. This happened in Byangum Road (Murwillumbah)."

Tweed Byron LAC detective inspector Brendon Cullen confirmed a police report had been lodged and said officers were investigating the matter.

Police have not issued an alert as a result of the incident.
