Tweed police nab drink drivers

THE Tweed Heads Highway Patrol conducted 1457 breath tests last weekend and caught 28 drink-drivers.

A Murwillumbah woman had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.250.

An unlicensed 17-year-old from Grafton was caught doing 178km/h in a 100km/h zone and returned a reading of 0.165.

A 22-year-old Murwillumbah man was charged with drive manner dangerous following a pursuit.

Gun used in store robbery

POLICE are hunting two balaclava-clad men who robbed a Surfers Paradise convenience store with a handgun and a knife.

About midnight (DST) Sunday, the men threatened an attendant at the Cavill Avenue store who then handed over cash.

Critical after car crash

A man is in a critical condition after a car crashed into a pole at Mudgeeraba on Sunday.

About 1.45am (DST) two men were driving east along Springbrook Road when the driver lost control and crashed.

One man was taken to Gold Coast Hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries and the other man was taken to Robina Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are investigating.

Car hits pedestrian

A 27-year-old pedestrian suffered a broken leg after being struck by a car at Broadbeach on Sunday.

About 2am (DST), the man was attempting to cross the Gold Coast Highway at the Victoria Avenue intersection when he was hit by a south-bound car.

He was taken to Gold Coast Hospital.
