Tweed police station and marine rescue lose power

POLICE and emergency services in Tweed Heads have been hampered by power outages following flooding and stormy conditions.

Tweed Police release a statement on Facebook that the Tweed Heads station was running on generators and the phone network was disabled.

Meanwhile, a Marine Rescue Point Danger spokesman said there was no power at its command centre this morning.

An Essential Energy spokeswoman said the company was working on priorities.

"We have crews working on that (police and marine rescue power outages) right now to see what needs to be done to restore the power to those areas," the spokeswoman said.
