Tweed races go pink

TWEED River Jockey Club officials are reminding connections that nominations for next Monday's Spring Cup meeting close at 11am this morning.

Nominations are open for a total of seven races, with $63,000 in prize money up for grabs and an added $44,100 for eligible BOBS runners.

The meeting will be run on the National Breast Cancer Foundation's Pink Ribbon day.

A charity auction and a raffle in support of the fundraiser will be conducted on course, and merchandise promoting the work of the foundation will also be available.

“The jockey club and event sponsors are particularly pleased to be associated with the first National Breast Cancer Foundation race meeting on Pink Ribbon Day in NSW,” TRJC secretary-manager Steve Huggins said.

The meeting will kick off a big month of racing in Murwillumbah, with the traditional Melbourne Cup gala meeting on Tuesday, November 3 and Casella Wines Murwillumbah Cup scheduled for Monday, November 23.
