Tweed Seagulls defeated in first Papua New Guinea match

A SPIRITED Tweed Heads Seagulls went down to the PNG Hunters 36-26 in the round seven of the Intrust Super Cup.

It was the first time the team has travelled to Papua New Guinea, which now has a team in the competition.

The match was played at Kalabond Oval, Kokopo.

PNG got away to a flying start getting the first two tries, but Seagulls orchestrated some smart play using their experienced men to get back into the game.

The game was locked up at 12-12 at the half-time period and the game was a wide-open contest.

A tough hard game continued in the second half until the home side stepped up another gear to take the game.
