Tweed snatches Pennant Finals from Queensland

IN a bold move, Destination Tweed has managed to lure Queensland bowlers across the border for a major competition.

The Queensland Pennant Finals will be held at Tweed Heads Bowls Club in November.

Destination Tweed CEO Bill Tatchell said the Queensland Pennants Finals along with another big even in the Australian Open qualifying rounds will have the potential for a big cash injection for the Tweed economy.

"Collectively, these two events have the potential to inject around $2.9 million into the Tweed economy through direct expenditure on accommodation, meals, activities and transport," he said.

The Australian Open qualifying rounds will be spread between Tweed Heads Bowls Club, South Tweed Sports Club and Twin Towns Banora facilities.

Nearly all the accommodation in Kingscliff was booked out last weekend for the New South Wales division 4 Pennant Finals, even bigger numbers are expected to flock to the region for the Queensland finals being held in enemy territory.
