Tweed teams primed for semi-finals
THE JH Williams Women's Premier League only has two rounds to play before the semis on July 2 and it's anyone's guess as to who will take top honours.
All Tweed teams fill the top four positions and there's not much separating them in points.
Mullumbimby, which has jumped into second place, is against Casuarina this Saturday at 5.15pm when it will be striving to contain Casuarina which is two points in front. Waratah Falcons are one point behind Mullumbimby.
Mullumbimby needs to draw on all its experience if it is to match it with Casuarina. If Mullumbimby can step up this should be a really tight match.
Both teams are playing good consistent hockey and it will come down to who can control the ball and make the most of their opportunities up front.
Casuarina will rely on Kym Tuckwell and Debbie Dolan while Mullumbimby will call on Jo Tunstall and Samantha Iwanuscha to be on their games.
A win to Mullumbimby will see it on the top of the ladder.
Other JH Williams Women's Premier League games played in Lismore include East Lismore and Northern Star at 2.55pm followed by Glee and Falcons at 5.45pm.
In the other premier league fixture, Kingscliff travels to Ballina to take on the home side at 2.55pm.
In the men's JH Williams Premier League, Kingscliff will be riding high after its last game where they upset Coraki.
Kingscliff will be hoping to carry on its success when it meet Northern Star at 3.50pm this weekend.
Kingscliff goes into the game without the injured Jason McKinnon and Steve Liefels as well as Liam Munro but has picked up a new recruit in Ben Toovey.
Toovey has a bit of class and will be more than capable of fitting into the side – the club has good depth in the squad to cover the missing players.
Coach Andrew Kirby expects Brad Julius, Tim Prichard and Kelvin Jordan can continue their good form and is happy with the progress and vibe within the team which he describes as “awesome”.
While Waratah Bobcats and Redbacks clash in another interesting game at 8.05pm.
Men's Premier League games in Lismore include Coraki and East Lismore coming head to head at 4.20pm.
And finally, Ballina hosts Murwillumbah at 4.20pm - Murwillumbah will be attempting to bounce back from its last effort with an improved game plan.
