Tweed teen charged over spree

A TWEED Heads teenager faces multiple break and enter charges after being arrested at a Kennedy Drive address earlier this week.

Police from the Tweed/Byron Target Action Group arrested the 17-year-old at about 1pm on Tuesday. He was then taken to Tweed Heads Police station and charged with 12 counts of break and enter.

The teen is alleged to have committed the crimes in a six-week period.

The teenager was refused bail and appeared at Tweed Heads Local Court yesterday.

The arrest came after investigations by the Target Action Group into drug supply and property crime in the Tweed/Byron area.

Detective Inspector Frank Natoli said residents should see the arrest as a reminder for them to take steps to ensure their homes are protected.

“People should ensure they secure their homes properly and are vigilant in relation to not only their own neighbourhoods, but the neighbourhoods of others,” Insp Natoli said.
