Tweed total fire ban: Severe fire weather warning
TWEED Shire is under a total fire ban after the Bureau of Meteorology released a severe fire weather warning.
Most of the state is under the ban which has been called due to dry conditions and strong and gusty north to north-westerly winds.
BOM said the winds were trending west to south-easterly behind the trough.
NSW Fire and Rescue Tweed Heads station officer Fraser Hindry said the total fire ban kicked in at 12am and would last for at least 24-hours.
"No fire permits will be given and anyone already out has been revoked," he said.
"We won't be issuing any for the next 24 hours."
Station officer Hindry urged everyone to be vigilant and to take care because the area is so dry.
