Fundraiser for Japanese disaster

CONDONG Bowls Club is hosting a fundraiser gig this weekend in support of children orphaned by the recent disastrous events in Japan.

Event organiser James Doyle has brought together a group of bands from Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads and encourages everyone in the community to support the cause.

“We held a similar event at the end of January for the floods, which did really well, so we are hoping to have a similar response this time,” Mr Doyle said.

“Heaps of young people have been involved in putting this together, which is great to see.

“By coming along people will not only be supporting a great cause but also getting the chance to experi- ence some awesome local acts,” Mr Doyle said.

Acts in the Gig for Japan include popular local bands such as Cupids Bullet, As We Stand, Death by Dance, Raygun Mortlock and Vooodoo Milkshake, with most of the bands geared towards a youth audience.

“All the money raised will be donated to Save the Children Australia- Japan Earthquake Appeal,” Mr Doyle said.

“These guys have been working on the ground since disaster struck and are a truly worthy foundation,” Mr Doyle explained.

The gig will be held on Saturday, April 9 at the Condong Bowls Club, with a $5 entry, all ages are welcome.
