Tweed Valley Way speed reduced

THE speed limit along the Tweed Valley Way, between Tumbulgum to Cudgen Rd, has been temporarily reduced from 100 to 80kmh due to the upgrade of a safety barrier.

A Tweed Shire Council spokesperson said the crash barrier had been removed in preparation for the upcoming road works.

The upgrade has been in response to 16 recorded crashes along the site between July 2004 and June 2008.

"The construction of the barriers will be commencing before the end of this year, but there is not completion date," the spokesperson said.

The completion of the construction is dependant on Federal funding from the Black Spot program and other factors, so there is no estimated end date.
