Tweed's Hazard a late call-up into the Qld Residents side
RUGBY LEAGUE: Tweed Seagulls half Christian Hazard has earned a late call-up into the Queensland Residents side to face NSW this weekend.
The annual game will be held on Sunday afternoon at Dolphin Stadium in Redcliffe, with Hazard being rushed into the side on Tuesday.
The Tweed star has shown good form in recent weeks for his Intrust Super Cup side and said it was an honour to be selected to play off the bench on Sunday.
"It is a pretty amazing feeling, to be honest,” Hazard said.
"Even just to be on the bench, I am over the moon to be selected.”
Hazard, who has been part of the Queensland Residents before, said he was confident and excited to be a part of Sunday's clash.
"I know what they will want from me,” he said.
"They will want me to add a bit of spark around the ruck, have a good running game and be solid in defence.”
Hazard had a delayed start to the season, missing the first three rounds of the Intrust Super Cup season.
But since he has been back in the black and white, he has shown poise with ball in hand, which has guided his team to some impressive wins.
"I got off to a slow start to the year with a shoulder injury but since round four we have been starting to gel and play well,” he said.
"Hopefully we can keep that going for the rest of the season.”
Kick-off for Sunday's game will be at 1.10pm. The game will be telecast on Nine's Gem.
