Twins welcome with their native dance

DANCING is a big part of their culture.

But 13 year-old twins Mandu and Yaimee Currie also study their native language.

The indigenous duo from Murwillumbah goes to Wollumbin High School, yet much of their learning comes from mum, Deidre.

"I've raised them to respect and know the culture of the Bundjalung people," she said.

From a very young age they have been immersed in that culture, learning the dances and some of their native language.

The twins danced for the welcome ceremony at World Environment Day at Murwillumbah today.
