Crash at Alstonville is being investigated

UPDATE June 30, 9.30AM: POLICE are investigating who was at fault in a two car crash that occurred on the Bruxner Hwy intersection at Alstonville yesterday afternoon.

Lismore police chief inspector Nicole Bruce said one vehicle was stationary in the turning lane of the Bruxner Highway facing west while the second vehicle was travelling east along the highway at 4.31pm.

She said one vehicle turned in front of the other causing the collision.

One car, a white Suzuki swift, came to rest on a traffic island while the other vehicle, a blue kombi van, stopped about 10m away from where the impact occurred.

The two people involved in the crash, an 85 year old man and a 36 year old woman, were transported to the Lismore Base Hospital via road ambulance.

Both are Alstonville residents.

 

UPDATE, 6.10pm: Emergency services are still on the scene of a three car crash on the Bruxner Highway at Alstonville.

A spokesperson for NSW Fire and Rescue said one patient was currently being transported to hospital by road ambulance.

He said another patient, an elderly male, was still in one of the vehicle's waiting for another ambulance vehicle to arrive.

Live Traffic NSW still has a caution alert for the crash.

 

UPDATE, 5.30pm: Police have said an elderly male driver has been treated for shock and no one is trapped by confinement in the crash.

Highway patrol and a police crew from Ballina are on scene, near the eastern entrance to Alstonville.

Drivers are urged to use the western exit to Alstonville off the highway if they are heading into the village.

Traffic is heavy in the area.

 

UPDATE, 5.20pm: ONE patient is still trapped and another was extricated by a bystander in a three car Alstonville crash, a NSW Ambulance media spokesperson has said.

The patient who was already extricated has a lower leg injury and a minor head injury.

The spokesperson said the crash occurred on the intersection of Waratah Ln and the Bruxner Highway, adjacent to the Ballina Rd intersection.

There are multiple ambulance units on the scene.

 

ORIGINAL STORY: AMBULANCE are currently responding with multiple vehicles to a three car crash on the Bruxner Highway at Alstonville.

A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said they received the call shortly after 4.30pm today.

Alstonville Fire and Rescue, Ballina SES and police are also on scene, a spokesperson for NSW Fire and Rescue has confirmed.

He said there were no persons trapped in either of the two vehicles involved.  

At this stage it is not known whether anyone is injured.

Live Traffic NSW has issued an alert for the two car crash, which says one lane of traffic is affected.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution.
