Two teens charged after being caught in stolen car

TWO 17-year-olds will face Tweed Heads Local Court next month, after being caught driving a stolen car through Tweed.

Tweed/Byron LAC Inspector Gary Cowan said about 10.55pm on Saturday August 23, police patrols located the black Suzuki Swift, believed to be from Queensland, at a Chinderah service station.

The car then proceeded southbound onto the highway.

Insp Cowan said a pursuit was initiated toward Tumbulgum on Tweed Valley Way.

"The vehicle was eventually stopped in Tumbulgum and four young persons were arrested," he said.

Two boys, aged 17, were charged with receiving property stolen outside the state - one was also charged with unlicensed driving.

The two will face court on September 8.
