Two troopers travelling on together

TRAVELLING On is an apt name for the latest album released by Zeta Burns, 84, and Ian Hands, age undisclosed.

The couple have clocked up 1,100,000km in their 1976 model Holden Kingswood panel van.

Based in Glenwood, Queensland, they have been busy performing this week at the Fair Dinkum Country Music Roundup at the Grafton Showground, which finishes up tomorrow

Although not married ("I learnt from my mistake," said Ian), the couple first met in 1979 and started falling in love when they toured together in 1985.

Zeta said she first joined the Lester's Follies vaudeville travelling show in 1948 alongside Gordon Parsons, who later helped convince Slim Dusty to record Pub With No Beer as a B-side to Saddleboy.

Although Zeta can't quite hit the high notes these days and Ian's fingers have failed him on the guitar, the pair enjoy getting along to traditional country shows and catching up with friends.

"She (Zeta) is still getting away with it and, if we're still above the ground, we'll be there," said Ian. "There are that many of us disappearing these days.

"The best part for us is seeing people that we haven't seen in a while - seeing they're still alive, and they're still around.
