Ukitopia explodes with fest colour

UKI exploded into action over the weekend when the small village celebrated the Ukitopia Festival.

With a vast range of entertainment ranging from Sound Track's Neil Young and Crowded House covers, the famous lion tamer, Lorenzo and Trashformers making amazing artworks from recycled material, there was something for everyone.

Granny Rapper and The Prodigal Son performed their home grown homey rap, with "We're Two Bad Ass Prankster Gangsters" bringing the house down.

"Granny" is 72 years-young and raps from the heart.

"I'm from the hood," she said.

"I was born in Liverpool, England and educated in the school of hard knocks.

"I'm street wise, street smart and a hood from wayback with a message to relate.

"I'm a rapper learning to be a rapper, not a granny trying to be a rapper."

Lorenzo's "lions" performed acrobatics through the day and the evening brought more music.

The Images of Uki Art Exhibition saw a variety of artistic styles from pottery through to landscape's that depicted the famous Mount Warning.

Artist Lisa Gair showed off her Studio 10 in preparation for upcoming clay workshops.

The workshops will be launched on December 9 at the Baubles and Bubbles event at the studio in Uki.
