United well off the pace after another defeat

MANCHESTER United's title defence took another hit after Tottenham beat the Red Devils 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Goals from Emmanuel Adebayor (pictured) and Christian Eriksen gave Tottenham a 2-0 lead before Danny Welbeck pulled one back for United.

The defeat, United's fourth at home this season, means the champion is now seventh and 11 points behind the leader, Arsenal.

The Gunners remain one point clear of Manchester City after a 2-0 win over managerless Cardiff City.

Manchester City won 3-2 at Swansea, while third-placed Chelsea also won on the road, 3-0 at Southampton.

Elsewhere, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez scored his 20th goal of the season in the 2-0 win over Hull at Anfield, Fulham beat West Ham 2-1, Everton drew 1-1 at Stoke, Newcastle lost 1-0 at West Brom, Aston Villa was a 1-0 winner at Sunderland, while Crystal Palace and Norwich drew 1-1.
