Unsung heroes save family at Kingscliff Beach

YESTERDAY at 5.30pm (February 19), two brave men from Kingscliff saved three lives after a father and his two children were caught in a rip on Kingscliff Beach.

Caleb White and Luke van Leer both 25 raced on their boards to their aid and rescued the father and two children who had been swept out in a rip.

Spectators on the beach stated that they were swimming along way up the beach away from the flags and were caught in a rip, and were in great danger of drowning.

Luke an ex lifesaver noticed that the father was very distressed waving for help and both he and Caleb, both local surfers, raced to their aid.

The children had been swept away from the father and panic had set in.

The father and children were very shaken and exhausted.

Caleb and Luke advised the man and children that they must always swim between the flags.

I hate to think what would have happened if Luke and Caleb had not decided to go to that part of the beach to surf!
