Fit Pole classes a great form of exercise for whole body

OPINION: WE HAD one of the world's greatest pole dancers here in Hervey Bay over the past weekend.

Adelaide Pole Fitness expert Carlie Hunter has been the winner of the Australian Pole championships for the past two years running, and came to Hervey Bay to join in the graduation celebrations and showcase her talents at Local "Fit Pole Studio Hervey Bay".

Pole dancing isn't only an exotic form of dance, sparking women's confidence and self-empowerment from those who do it, all over the world; it's a great form of exercise too.

"I'm from a personal training background and pole dancing is one of the few things that works the entire body, and has in fact, completely changed my body shape", says ultra sleek and toned Hunter.

Pole fitness strengthens and tones the upper and lower body, improves co-ordination, flexibility, balance, core strength, and some physios see it as a great sport for rehabilitating patients.

"People leave class feeling uplifted, strong and positive about themselves, which they then carry into all aspects of their daily lives," adds Hunter.

Fit Pole studio owner Rebecca Sheerin offers classes for beginners, who are taught simply how to walk, grip the pole and do basic moves, up to advanced and instructor level.

It's for all ages up to 60, and is open to everyone, including people who feel insecure about their bodies or those intimidated by gyms.

"We're all equal here; we all have lumps and bumps and that's just normal," says Sheerin.

So give pole dancing a try for fun, for fitness or to just feel good about yourself and life.
