URGENT RECALL: Dessert line poses serious health risk

IT'S THE sweet treat that could hold dire consequences.

A recall has been issued for a much-loved frozen dessert with poses a threat to those with nut allergies.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has advised people who bought Cocofrio Dairy & Gluten Free Frozen Dessert Strawberry Choc-Chip from IGA outlets and other independent supermarkets to be wary, after undeclared allergens were found in the ice cream.

The 500ml tubs with best before dates of 04/09/2019 (on sale from 11/09/2017) and 23/10/2019 (sold from 30/10/2017) are the products with identified issues.

Consumers with pecan, hazelnut, cashew or pistachio allergies or intolerances have been warned they may have a reaction if these particular products are consumed.

The products were sold at seven Sunshine Coast outlets and customers with allergies or intolerances are urged to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
