US forces raid Somali town to find Kenya mall attack suspect

A US military official says navy SEALs have raided a Somali coastal town looking for a specific al-Shabab suspect in connection with the Kenya shopping mall attack, but did not get their target.

A former US military official also confirmed the raid by the SEALs, but no other details have been provided.

Both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to discuss the raid by name.

The Pentagon declined to comment.

In Somalia, officials said international military forces carried out a pre-dawn strike on Saturday against foreign fighters in the town of Barawe.
