US man questioned over anti-Islam film

US authorities have questioned the alleged brains behind the film that has inflamed much of the Muslim world, but quickly released him.

Investigators in southern California sought to establish whether Nakoula Besseley Nakoula had broken the terms of his probation on a bank fraud conspiracy conviction, a Los Angeles County sheriff's department spokesman, Don Walker, said.

A man later emerged from the police station wearing a coat, hat, scarf and glasses.

The anti-Islam film - titled Innocence of Muslims on a 14-minute trailer on YouTube - was produced by an American group called Media for Christ and is believed to have been directed by a pornographer.

Nakoula, an Egyptian Coptic Christian, has admitted uploading the trailer on the internet.
