Valentine’s day sends florists into a spin
VALENTINE'S Day has arrived and florists Lindy and Samantha Gunn couldn't be busier.
The mother and daughter duo run Blossoms of Tweed , at Centro Tweed Shopping Centre.
Lindy said Valentine's Day was the biggest single day of the year with deliveries starting at 7am and hundreds of orders going out.
Roses are the most popular choice of flower for Valentine's Day, but the other types are starting to become a popular choice.
"Roses, always roses, but we are leaning towards mixed coloured roses this year, they have been a big hit," Lindy said.
"We generally sell out of everything, once the stores rose stock starts running down, people will have any flowers they can get their mitts on," Samantha said.
With people getting right into the romance, Valentine's Day can be a really special day.
"Some of our customers get rose petals, champagne, a dozen roses with chocolate, a teddy and scented candles," Lindy said.
Tips to long-lasting blooms
- For all those lovers out there that do get flowers Lindy said so long as flowers are looked after, they can look beautiful for weeks after purchase.
- It's important to keep trimming flowers and to give them clean water and flower food so don't go leaving them in the hot car.
