Vanessa may be next Milky Bar Kid
AN eight-year-old girl from Fingal Head has beaten more than 1000 children to make the finals of the Australian Milky Bar Kid competition.
Vanessa Nielsen has made it to the top 10 and it's now up to locals to vote for her.
The kid with a winning smile and Shirley Temple-style curls said she was “pretty confident” of her chances and was looking forward to the possibility of being the new face for the famous chocolate bar commercial.
When asked what her reaction would be if she won, her response was predictable.
“I'll tell all the kids at school the Milky Bars are on me,” she said.
Vanessa's mother Wanetta Nielsen said she was overwhelmed by her daughter's success.
“She is so cool and calm, taking it all in her stride,” she said.

Voting closes at 11.59pm on July 1, with the winner revealed at Movie World on the Gold Coast on July 5.
