Mount Coolum Careflight Rescue

Victorian man winched to safety from Mt Coolum

THE Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight rescue helicopter crew have successfully conducted a winch rescue at Mount Coolum this morning.

The mission resulted in a Victorian man in his late sixties being airlifted to Nambour General Hospital.

The man, who had suffered a suspected cardiac episode, was winched from the main track near the top of the mountain when it became evident that he was unable to make the descent on his own.

He was taken to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.

It was the second mission of the morning for the Sunshine Coast crew, who had just concluded a patient transfer from Fraser Island when they were tasked to proceed to Mount Coolum shortly before 11am.
