VIDEO: WA police stalk then capture runaway drivers

A PACK of teenagers have been stalked by a police helicopter, which followed their every move, as they attempted to outrun authorities.

At 6.30am on Wednesday, the teens -- including two 17-year-old boys, another boy, 15 and a girl, 16 -- stole the Holden Calais from a park then fled.

Four hours later at 10.30am then again at 11.15am, police attempted to stop the driver, but without luck.

According to police, the car thieves were driving on the wrong side of the road during the chase.

Ultimately police pulled back, relying on the state's police helicopter -- or Air Wing -- while they kept a safe distance.

Under the eye-from-the-sky, the authorities waited patiently for the safest moment to strike.

When the would-be escape artists hit heavy traffic, police pounced.

The dramatic take down was captured from above.

The four were arrested, with the two 17-year-olds charged with stealing a car, not stopping for police and reckless driving.

The other two were each charged with stealing a car.
