Villa oust City

PREMIER League champions Manchester City have been booted out of this year's League Cup, beaten 4-2 by a rejuvenated Aston Villa in Manchester.

In a move that showed winning the Cup wasn't high on manager Roberto Mancini's list of priorities this season, City made 10 changes to the team that drew 1-1 with Arsenal last weekend.

High-flying Everton was also bundled out, beaten 2-1 by second division side Leeds.

Premiership leaders Chelsea had no such trouble, downing Wolves 6-0, while Swansea, Sunderland, Southampton and Wigan all won through to the next round.
