Early arrival was not a worry for Fernandez family

ALTHOUGH he was three weeks early, Vincent Harry Fernandez's parents were all ready for him.

Born at Mater Hospital on May 19, Vincent weighed 2580g. Mum Lorinda and dad Nathan were over the moon with their first child whose sex was a surprise.

But his fast arrival was even more of a shock to the couple who have been together for 13 years.

"Luckily I was at home when it happened," Mrs Fernandez said.

"We had everything ready, we even had the bags in the car.

"My husband is a very organised person."

Now at seven weeks old, Vincent is starting to form a personality and settling in well.

He's got a little bit of hair but his looks are a mixture between the couple.

"He's put on a kilo now which is good. He used to be as long as the length from your elbow to your hand," Mrs Fernandez said.

"He's starting to smile now and it's lovely. He's starting to see the world around him and it just opens your eyes up."

Mrs Fernandez said what she was most looking forward to was seeing Vincent grow up into a lovely young man, just like her grandfather was.

"We thought naming him Vincent would be a nice little tribute to my grandad," she said.

"I was close with him and he suits the name."

Vincent's middle name was taken after Mr Fernandez' grandfathers.
