Vinnies booming from search for preloved clothes

OP shopping is on the rise in the lead up to Cooly Rocks On.

Tweed Heads St Vincent de Paul said they were seeing an influx of customers looking for pre-loved '50s and '60s clothes visiting their store.

Some men were even on the hunt for clothes specifically tailored to match their vintage cars.

"We had one gentleman last year who we styled in a bright red suit and akubra hat to match his car," St Vincent's Jenny Plimmer said.

St Vincent's top vintage pick for Cooly Rocks On this year is a shimmering silver tailored suit, sure to attract attention from the expected 80,000 visitors set to descend on Coolangatta and Tweed Heads from May 31.

"We've been doing this for ten years now," Ms Plimmer said.

"It gets busier and busier every year."

St Vincents is stacked with a variety of gear, from Marilyn Monroe themed handbags, to suits of all colours and a wide variety of classic LPs and CDs.

And by suiting up for the Cooly Rocks On occasion at St Vincent de Paul you will be helping to provide resources and support to people in need.Cooly Rocks On will be held from 31 May to 10 June 2013.
