Vodafone to tackle network coverage issues in the Tweed
VODAFONE'S Tweed service is expected to improve, with multiple regional upgrades scheduled for later this year.
Currently regional network issues are listed on the Vodafone website coverage and postcode checker, with Banora Point, Tweed Heads South, Kingscliff and Tugun noted as experiencing ongoing disruptions to mobile services.
Many other areas around the Tweed are cited as having limited indoor coverage or outdoor coverage only, including Piggabeen, Bilambil, Terranora and Tumbulgum, amongst an array of other areas.
"There are 3 site upgrades planned in the area, Tweed West, Bilambil and Kingscliff are all are scheduled for completion before the end of the year," A Vodafone spokeswoman said.
Our customers have been very clear what they want from us.
"We also have two additional transmission upgrades for sites at Tweed Heads South and Kingscliff scheduled for the second half of the year.
"This will provide service improvements and increased capacity for customers."
The spokeswoman said the company understood there are various coverage problems in the Tweed's network, but it was beginning to tackle the predicament
"Our aim is to provide all of our customers with a reliable and worry-free network experience and we are working towards doing that in all areas our customers live, work and holiday," she said.
"If customers are unhappy with their experience with us, we encourage them to contact us directly on 1555 to discuss their options and seek tips for maximising their network experience."
Meanwhile, the company released information today regarding a national regional expansion plan.
"Our customers have been very clear what they want from us," Vodafone's CEO Bill Morrow said.
"They want a reliable network experience where they live, work and holiday."
The plan will mean 1200 new network sites across Australia and the launch of Vodafone's 4G network next month.
Vodafone said that it will contact customers directly in July to detail areas in which the network coverage will increase.
Telstra and Optus do not list any significant network coverage problems across the Tweed region.
