Volunteers needed for uni research

A BOND University researcher wants 150 people suffering depression and their carers for research.

Assistant professor of Psychology Christina Samios said research on the effects on people caring for those with depression was lacking.

“It is very important in helping the people who care for people with depression,” Dr Samios said.

“Living with, or caring for a depressed person can have a profound impact on an individual, and they can sometimes become depressed themselves.”

Dr Samios said even though there were support programs in place for people with depression, family members often took on the responsibility.

“I am collecting data now for the study and will do that until September, and need as many questionnaires filled as possible.

“Participants do not have to complete any question they do not want to and I am available to talk to about any concerns.”
