Wacky weather: A white Christmas in Doon Doon
IT might have been a touch early, but Doon Doon residents experienced something of a white Christmas yesterday.
Kirsteen Hornick, from Doon Doon reported a massive downfall of hail, resulting from severe thunderstorms which hit the Tweed yesterday.
While most parts of the shire escaped the hail, Doon Doon was not so lucky.
On the bright side, it did make for some picturesque winter wonderlands after the fact.
"The one (photo) on the roadway shows a car which was bogged in the ice on Pine Log Road - passengers got out and pushed it," she said.
"The second photo is taken of the back of our property from Pine Log Road. I believe further up Doon Doon Road, the hail could have even been more intense.
"Other people up Doon Doon Road also received the huge dump of hail. For instance Alan Cram (the last of the Crams from Crams Farm) lives in a large metal shed and it was pretty hairy for a while for him (incredible din in a metal shed, as you might imagine).
"Another from another Pioneer family, Margaret Sweetnam, lives near Alan and would have copped the same storm."
