Tweed surfboard invention promises ride on boat and sea

TWEED surfboard shaper Bradley 'Ralph' Riddell and Kristin Bower of Indy Surfboards have invented a radical new board called the Patriot.

Unlike a conventional board, it is designed to be ridden on boat wake and surf equally as well.

The unique design features deep channels running the length of its underbelly and each board takes at least a couple of days to shape.

"It takes almost twice as much work and time as a standard board to shape but it's worth it," Mr Riddell said.

Mr Bower was full of praise for Mr Riddell's incredible skills in design and shaping.

"His creation is something that brings a whole lot to the table for every age, size and skill level and will not only get the 100kg plus dads out wake surfing behind the boat but also give anyone under that weight something to take to the beach to shred as well," he said.

"The best thing about it is we have made a five foot board that can carry the feather weights and the heavy weights and work both behind a boat and paddling out in the ocean,"

The Patriot is priced at $780.
