Walk down Mount St Pat’s memory lane
THE memories of the old school yard came thick and fast when 120 people gathered to mark Murwillumbah's Mount St Patrick College's 50 years as a regional high school.
Among the star guests on Thursday were sister Betty McKerrow, who was the principal of the college from 1978 to 1983.
Father Bill Mills, the priest at Sacred Heart from 1989 to 1995, was another welcome blast from the past.
Past students and staff flew in from as far as Cairns and Sydney for a thanksgiving mass at Sacred Heart church.
"We had them coming from everywhere," said current principal Paul Clohesy.
Past and current students helped preside over the service.
It was followed by a lunch at the adjoining parish hall.
A book produced by former principal, Tony Daly, chronicling the history of the school was launched.
A time capsule containing school memorabilia, including the guest list on the day, was buried.
It will be dug up in a decade's time when the college itself marks 100 years.
