Want free education? Just pop over to New Zealand

WOULD you jump over the ditch if it meant you could study for free?

Under new legislation that is set to be introduced next year, Australians will be entitled to free tertiary education in New Zealand.

The policy, if introduced in 2018, will see the first year of post-school study fully subsidised for New Zealand citizens, which will be extended to three years by 2024.

Australians will also be able to access this scheme as they are currently treated as domestic students, just as New Zealanders pay the same fees to study in Australia as an Australian citizen would.

But with Australia proposing to removed the subsidies for New Zealand students, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is threatening to withdraw the free study opportunity for Australians.
