Ward name honours hospital stalwart

THE Muriel Read Ward was officially named at the unveiling of a plaque at The Tweed Hospital last weekend.

The newly-refurbished Medical Ward 1 has been named after the long-serving minutes secretary, pub- licity officer and auxiliary stalwart Muriel Read OAM who passed away earlier this year.

The function was attended by her husband John, Mrs Read's family and friends and auxiliary members and helpers from the fete. A photograph and story on Mrs Read's association with the hospital and auxiliary will be attached below the plaque.
