Warriors deny Gillett offer

WARRIORS coach Andrew McFadden denies Broncos back-rower Matt Gillett is on their radar and says the club are being used as a bargaining tool by Australian- based NRL players.

Gillett (pictured) is off contract at the end of the year and implied he was considering an offer to join the Warriors in 2017.

Warriors managing director Jim Doyle told Fox Sports that the club have "had no discussions” with the Queensland and Kangaroos Test forward and McFadden echoed those comments.

Ahead of Sunday's clash against Wests Tigers at Mt Smart Stadium, McFadden suggested media on both sides of the Tasman had been sold a dummy.

"I think he's got you all,” he said. "That came from leftfield, to be honest with you, and I don't even know if he knows what over the ditch means. "He might have meant over the border or something like that.”

McFadden is frustrated the Warriors have to contend with frequent rumours connecting them to off-contract players.
