Artist seeks brush with fame

HIS art has been splashed across doors, canvasses - even motorbike helmets - around the world.

Now Warwick artist Steve Parker can add to that list computer screens, after launching his own website to sell his magnificent pieces.

"It's mainly to get more people finding out about what I do," he said.

"I did the website myself - that was an experience."

Until now Mr Parker has just used his Facebook page to get his name and work online, which he said has worked well.

But he has big plans for the website.

"I'll be working on it as I go," he said.

"It will just give people more information than I can on Facebook.

"Somewhere down the track I'll hope to have something like a silent auction so people can bid on pieces."

At the moment Mr Parker has listed a few of his pieces for sale, and already with the site in its early stages, it has received a lot of hits.

The artist said he was motivated after a trip to the US last year, and made it his new year's resolution to create a web page.

"I met a lot of artists and saw what they were doing, which inspired me," he said.

Mr Parker must have done some inspiring himself in the States, having since been asked to return to lead talks on the art of airbrushing.

In the meantime, he has decided to gauge local interest and give classes to anyone who is interested.

Contact him via his Facebook page.

The website sjparkerdesign.com.au went live two weeks ago.
