New high-tech baby monitors

A CASUARINA-based businessman has found himself a niche market distributing baby products.

The market for baby monitors is so exclusive that wholesaler Chris Burke will travel to the Brisbane Pregnancy, Babies and Children Expo because there are few opportunities to show the products on the coast.

“There’s nothing like this in the area,” Mr Burke said.

Mr Burke has owned Network Sales, a wholesale company, for 10 years, but has only recently moved into the supply of digital video baby monitors.

In just a few weeks, 60% of the first shipment of the products, made by Dutch company Luvion, has sold out, mostly online.

“The baby-monitor market in Australia has seen significant growth in the past 12 months with consumers taking advantage of cutting-edge digital technology,” Mr Burke said.

“Finally the world’s best digital video baby monitor has arrived in Australia.”

The technology allows for digital monitoring and recording, with cables allowing connection to television for playback.

Mr Burke will also show the Luvion Walky, a baby walker that helps adjust the baby’s posture as it walks and gives the parent control.

The showcase will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre at South Bank from Friday to Sunday.
