Watching over Tweed Heads West
AFTER a year's hiatus, Tweed Heads West is being watched once more.
The suburb's Neighbourhood Watch was put on the backburner about a year ago but fresh blood has reinvigorated the group.
Tweed Heads West Neighbourhood Watch president Peter Sibilant has come on board to lead the group.
"Well I say that chief inspector Josh Maxwell was looking for more people for Eyewatch and then onto neighbourhood watch," Mr Sibilant said.
"I found Eyewatch on Facebook. It's great. It's hitting millions of people already and around the world not just Australia.
"I'm hoping to get some younger folk involved as well. This place will be theirs in 15 to 20 years."
Group secretary Pam Murphy was involved in the group when it was last active.
"We sort of crumbled," Ms Murphy said.
"There was no-one that was really interested… we only got a few people at meetings.
"The people delivering newsletters got older and older and their bones wore out."
Ms Murphy said Mr Sibilant was happy to take on the role of area coordinator.
"This area has improved drastically in the last year," she said.
Ms Murphy said Tweed Heads West was the first Neighbourhood Watch group in the region.
