Week will recognise indigenous

SIX days of activities are set to take place to celebrate NAIDOC Week in Tweed.

The official opening ceremony will take place tomorrow morning and the celebrations will conclude Friday with a dinner dance.

The Minjungbal Cultural Museum, PCYC Tweed Heads and Twin Towns Services Club will play host to the activities and events throughout the week.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to celebrate and identify the contributions of indigenous Australians.

The 2010 NAIDOC theme is “Unsung Heroes – Closing the Gap by Leading the Way” which recognises the quite achievers in the indigenous community.

NAIDOC Week officially runs from July 4 until July 11 throughout Australia.
