Wildcats pounce on former NBA player

THE Perth Wildcats are set to announce the signing of former NBA guard Bryce Cotton, and he's just received immense praise from a former teammate.

The Arizona-born combo guard has jumped around several teams over his short professional career, going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, before joining the Austin Spurs (D-League), Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies, as well as having stints in China and Turkey.

Former Jazz teammate and Australian wing Joe Ingles came out in support of the Wildcats' new signing, predicting that he'll put someone on a poster during his time in the NBL.

Cotton, 24, joins a Wildcats team that currently sits at the bottom of the NBL ladder, and that just released (for the second time) import Jaron Johnson.

The defending champions are also still without captain Damian Martin, who remains sidelined after suffering an MCL tear in November.

Cotton is expected to join the his new team early next week.
