Winds to remain until the weekend

GUSTY winds are set to continue throughout the Tweed region today, but weather expert expect things to stabilise by the weekend.

Weather Channel meteorologist Alex Zadnik said while Tweed was being hit by strong winds yesterday, residents could expect the gusts to die down relatively soon.

“The strong winds have been hitting the coast especially, and fresh showers are still expected for the next few days,” Mr Zadnik said.

“Wind and showers will continue today in Tweed.”

That may be good news for residents who have had enough of the recent hot and humid conditions.

“The Tweed region will have a top of 27 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday,” Mr Zadnik said.

“The thunderstorms residents experienced on Monday night allowed the temperature to drop.

“The air will now be less humid.”

Mr Zadnik gave the green light to those wanting to plan outdoor activities for the weekend, predicting the weather to be fine and bright.

“The last weekend of summer will be sunny in the Tweed region,” Mr Zadnik said.

Showers and brisk winds are predicted for Tweed Heads today.

Surf conditions are expected to be dangerous.
