Snow hits the Tenterfield area overnight
UPDATE: SNOW has been spotted and filmed falling in Tenterfield with the results posted on the Higgins Stormchaser Facebook page by Cas Kimmins.
The video shows one very bewildered dog trying to figure out what the white stuff falling from the sky is.
There have been light dustings on Mt Mackenzie and isolated areas including near the main street of Tenterfield.
INITIAL: WHILE Winter has finally hit the Northern Rivers and Northern Tablelands, it is also planning to stay around for a while.
The Bureau of Meteorology is reporting a high pressure system that lies over eastern South Australia will move slowly east over the next few days.
The next cold front is expected to cross New South Wales during Thursday and Friday.
Lismore felt its coldest at 6.30am this morning getting down to 5.5 deg celsius.
Evans Head felt it at 5.30am but a little bit warmer at 5.8.
Further west in Casino the 5.5 mark was hit at 4.30am.
At Cape Byron and Ballina it's practically a heatwave with temperatures at 8.3 at 6.30am.
While the days are expected to be sunny, temperatures will continue to stay low.
The rest of today will see westerly winds reaching 15 to 25 km/h and turning south to southwesterly in the late morning and early afternoon.
Daytime maximum temperatures will reach around 19.
On Wednesday early risers will see patchy fog leading to a sunny day.
Overnight temperatures will fall to around 5 with daytime temperatures reaching between 18 and 21.
Thursday will also be sunny but overnight temperatures will fall to between 3 and 7 with daytime temperatures reaching the low 20s.
Finally, for the first day of next month Friday the day will be sunny.
Overnight temperatures will fall to between 4 and 8 with daytime temperatures reaching around 20.
