Winx is back! Super mare takes it easy in trial

WINX has finished sixth in her first barrier trial for 2018 as anticipation builds ahead of her return to racing next month.

Winx settled down second last in the trial and wasn’t asked for an effort when she closed off nicely.

She finished in front of the country’s best sprinter, Redzel, who was also given a quiet trial.

Winx might have won 22 races straight on the track but she rarely stars in barrier trials and has only won the one from 17 official barrier trials during her illustrious career.

Winx wasn’t for much effort and cruised home in sixth place.

Winx is set to resume in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 17 before contesting the Chipping Norton Stakes and George Ryder Stakes also in Sydney.

A decision will then be made on whether Winx will defend her crown in the $4 million Queen Elizabeth at Randwick in April or whether she will miss the race and be prepared for a stint overseas, most likely at Royal Ascot.
